Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

WASH Services

WASH services

At ODS we partner with development partners to implement WASH programmes. WASH is the collective term for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. These three core issues are interdependent and together they represent a growing and important sector that our company values.

ODS agrees with other stakeholders (including governments and development partners) on the interconnectedness and interdependence between the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene sectors. We believe that without toilets, water sources become contaminated; without clean water, basic hygiene practices are not possible. We therefore design and implement our WASH interventions with this relationship in mind, resulting in the improvement of living conditions for many disadvantaged groups in Sub-Saharan Africa.

ODS will assist with:

  • Designing and implementing sanitation and hygiene interventions that have a positive impact on local communities.
  • Assisting the poor to have access to safe drinking water-rural water supply and sanitation.
  • Mainstreaming gender in water interventions -water issues affect women and the girl child differently to man and boys in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Behavioural change within schools and communities -motivate, inform and educate communities about good hygiene practices.
